More fun news to share! I am performing in the Doha Players’ production of Lipstick Dreams. This is a hilarious show about four women pursuing their dreams. It runs June 13-16 at the Newton International School, Lagoon Campus (across the street from Katara). All the performances start at 7:30pm. Tickets cost 60 Qatari riyal and can be purchased at The ONE in Landmark Mall.
Here’s the plot synopsis:The play is set in the Blue Heaven Ladies Hairdressing Salon, in a small country town. Jo, the manageress, is advised by the bank that the salon is no longer a viable concern. Since “Brett and the boys” opened a salon across the road, Jo and her girls haven’t been taking enough to cover the tea bill, let alone the interest repayments to the bank. So, with the help of her employees, Jo enters a talent quest at the local Chinese restaurant, in the hope that ‘if they win’, the publicity will start bringing the customers back.
On the very day of the contest one of the staff resigns. – Enter one of their customers – Is this the break they need to save Blue Heaven?
I play 19-year-old apprentice Jenny, a timid young woman who is about to discover whether she has what it takes to decide her own destiny. By the way, the show isn’t a musical, but we do sing a few 1950’s songs at the end. Hope to see you all there!
